Taking care of your hips over the course of your life is similar to maintaining both your car’s engine and suspension. The hip joint is the body’s strongest and most stable weight-bearing joint, but the sedentary lifestyle we lead today is likely the biggest threat to hip health. For this reason alone, everyone should incorporate hip mobility exercises into their routine.
Regularly practicing these movements helps prevent the decline of range of motion in the hip joints, ensuring that they maintain their full functional movement capacity. Tightness, restricted movement, and imbalances in the hips are also major contributors to lower back pain.
The video below demonstrates some of my favorite and highly effective hip mobility drills, which can be done daily as part of a broader exercise program or as standalone movement sessions.
